What is Maintenance Minder?
Honda's Maintenance Minder System calculates the remaining oil life and determines necessary services based on the engine operating conditions and accumulated engine revolutions.
So what does that mean for you? It means that the Maintenance Minder reads the way you drive your vehicle and determines what you need based on that. There are no more charts or schedules to follow - you drive and your car will tell you if it needs something.
Current Oil Life:
To see the current engine oil life, turn the ignition switch to the ON (II) position and press the SELECT button until it displays your oil life. If the oil life is 15% or less you will see a "SERVICE due SOON" message display.
Codes:
When the Maintenance Minder Indicator is on, a code or codes will be displayed that indicate the main and sub items required at the time of the oil change. As you can see below, the main criteria for a service is either an A or B service, with corresponding numbers (1-6) that indicate additional services required.
A Code: Replace Engine Oil, Oil Filter, Drain Plug Washer, Check Fluids, Check Tires, Check Lights, Test Battery, Reset Maintenance Minder
B Code: Replace Engine Oil, Oil Filter, Drain Plug Washer, Service Front and Rear Brakes and Check Thickness, Check Pads and Rotors, Check Calipers, Check Parking Brake Adjustment, Inspect Tie-Rod Ends & Steering Gear Box/Bolts, Check Rack Grease and Steering Linkage, Check Boots for Damage and Leaking Grease, Check Fluid Lines for Damage and Leaks, Lube Door Locks and Seals, Inspect Suspension Components, Check Bolts for Tightness, Check Ball Joint Boots, Inspect Driveshaft Boots, Inspect Brake Hoses and Lines, Check Master Cylinder and ABS Modulator, Inspect all Fluids (Transmission, Power Steering, Brake, Engine Coolant), Inspect Exhaust System, Check Catalytic Converter Heat Shields & Exhaust Pipes & Muffler, Inspect Fuel Lines and Connections, Test Battery, Reset Maintenance Minder
1: Rotate & Balance Tires, Check Inflation
